Elizabeth Nyamawnge is a 17-year-old developer, researcher, and gender-equality activist. She is most commonly known for her invention of a device, Etana, that uses blockchain technology to provide women in low-infrastructure environments with identification. She has worked with companies such as Safaricom and Visa and was awarded the Pozen Social Innovation Prize, HP Girls Save the World Prize, and MIT Solv[ed] Youth Award.

Elizabeth also works as a youth advisor for the United Nations on gender equality and education. She is currently conducting research at the Brighman and Women’s Hospital with Harvard Medical School, and has research experience in the fields of computational sociology and mathematical epidemiology.

She is a rising freshman in college, and plans to study computer science and economics at university.
