Carole Cafferty
Co-Director, The Educational Justice Institute at MIT
As a dedicated advocate for criminal justice reform, Carole brings over 30 years of high-level experience as a criminal justice professional. She has served as a Superintendent of a correctional institution, a federally certified PREA Auditor, and a subject matter expert in the field. Carole has dedicated her career to designing literacy and trauma-informed program initiatives for returning citizens. Carole is respected in the field for her creative and collaborative style in partnership with community-based agencies, police, courts, and academic institutions alike. Carole is a graduate of St. Anselm College and holds a Master’s degree in Correctional Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where she currently serves as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Criminology and Justice Studies. Carole also teaches at Suffolk University in Boston and serves as the Co-director of The Educational Justice Institute at MIT.
