Charles is the founder and AI research lead of Ubenwa Health, a social venture that applies artificial intelligence and mobile technology to enable timely diagnosis of birth asphyxia. He is a PhD Candidate and Vanier Scholar in computer science at McGill University, Canada, where he carries out research at the intersection of AI and healthcare. He has several years of experience developing solutions to real-world health care problems including physiological signal monitoring in neonatal patients and breast cancer patient care and. He holds a master's degree in computer science from McGill and a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. In January 2016, Charles was awarded Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS), an acknowledgement of persons working to improve the lives and prospects of citizens of the commonwealth. He is also a Jeanne Sauvé Fellow.
