Lidia is from rural Guatemala and is Maya Kachiquel. She is also a mother, a pioneer, and an outlier. She knows what it is like to confront, and overcome, powerful racial headwinds and gender norms. Through hard work and opportunity, Lidia managed to secure scholarships to study in the US and Taiwan. Lidia fluently speaks Kachiquel, Spanish, English, and Mandarin Chinese.
