Marcus has worldwide responsibility for Munich Re’s strategy development & implementation, global innovation management, data analytics and targeted business development.

Since joining Munich Re in 2002, Marcus has acquired deep expertise in the global (re-)insurance industry. He held a broad variety of roles in Underwriting, Risk Management and Strategic Business Development, both in reinsurance and in commercial & specialty primary insurance.

In 2005, Marcus moved to Sydney as General Manager, having management and result responsibility for Munich Re’s general reinsurance and primary insurance business in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

On his return to Munich in 2008, Marcus accepted an Executive Management role with the remit to develop global underwriting strategies and processes for both the reinsurance and primary insurance arms of the Munich Re group. He also had the Chief Underwriting responsibility for Munich Re’s global MGA portfolio.

Marcus holds a Diploma in Business Mathematics, an MBA in Financial Services and Insurance, and a PhD in Economics.
