Dr. Mary Hermes

Mary Hermes, Waabishkiimiigwan, holds a PhD in curriculum and instruction, and is a full professor at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She is also the director of Grassroots Indigenous Multimedia. Hermes is a two-spirit, community member at Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation in Northern Wisconsin where she lives. She is of Ft Peck Dakota, Chinese and Irish descendancy. With 25 years of experience in Ojibwe language revitalization she was a co-founder of Waadookodaading Immersion school, producer of 23 childrens' books in Ojibwe, and principal investigator on two major Documenting Endangered Languages projects. With Transparent Language, they launched the first success software collaboration now resulting in 7000 Languages.
