Dr. Urban leads Johnson & Johnson Innovation. Johnson & Johnson Innovation focuses on accelerating all stages of innovation worldwide and forming collaborations between entrepreneurs and J&J’s global healthcare businesses. To help inspire, empower, and enable innovation, J&J has spent the past five years fostering relationships to create an ecosystem where solutions to the biggest healthcare challenges can thrive. J&J Innovation’s model combines internal expertise with external entrepreneurial skills creating a start-up culture to accelerate breakthroughs. 

Prior to J&J, Robert was the founding Executive Director of MIT’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. Robert has co-founded multiple biopharmaceutical companies, held a variety of R&D leadership/operational roles, and served as an advisor or board member in the industry. Robert received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology and his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Texas system and was an Irvington Fellow in structural immunology at Harvard University.
