Sonia Bashir Kabir is a Bangladeshi female impact investor focusing on tech startups in emerging markets.

Sonia is currently Vice Chairman of United Nations Technology Bank for  Least Developed Countries and member of the Governing Board of UNESCO’s Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP).Sonia currently has Board seats in IPDC Finance, BRAC University, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), Shakti Foundation for Disadvantaged Women Bangladesh, and Luxembourg Business Council. In 2017, Sonia was recognized as 1 of the 10  Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) pioneers globally by  United Nations Global Compact.2016: Sonia was 1 of the 10 recipients of Microsoft's Prestigious Founders Award given by Bill Gates.

Educated and trained in Silicon Valley, Sonia lived in Northern California for 20 years. After completing her Bachelor of Science and MBA degrees, she worked in Silicon Valley for Sun Microsystems & Oracle, investment houses and start ups. Sonia relocated to Bangladesh and served as Managing Director for Microsoft  Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan and Laos, Country Director for Dell Bangladesh, Director Business Development for SE Asia Microsoft and COO for Aamra Technologies.
