Since its public launch in May 2022, LEAP, an initiative of the Jacobs Foundation and MIT Solve, has brought together researchers and social enterprise experts to collaborate on 12-week sprints designed to help education organizations generate evidence and prove the effectiveness of their learning solutions.
For the entrepreneurs running education organizations, developing methods for studying what’s working – or not – about their solution is critical for making improvements, raising funding, and forging partnerships. For educators and learners engaging with these solutions, having access to evidence-based products or programs is paramount for closing learning gaps.
In last year’s LEAP Challenge, we selected 10 organizations from 120 applications to receive LEAP support. This year, LEAP’s panel of expert judges selected 10 organizations from over 240 applications to become official 2023 LEAP Project Hosts. They will receive expertise from research and social entrepreneur fellows over the course of a 12-week project sprint, tailored strategies designed to strengthen their evidence base, and a $5,000 stipend.
“I am excited and proud about the selection of LEAP hosts this year. The diversity of the organizations is fantastic and we are convinced that the upcoming projects will help them to support more children with better-evidenced learning opportunities!” said Simon Sommer, Co-CEO of the Jacobs Foundation and member of the LEAP judging panel.
