Pitch your solution.
Education is a life-long journey and should never be limited to a book or classroom!
Around the world although our societies are constantly evolving many people are still repeating common and costly pitfalls already made by others - why? - because they generally lack awareness of these historical experiences or even access to supportive relationships that could help them survive and thrive.
What if - The LocaL App - could help people learn from past experiences of others; so they can better avoid costly mistakes or wasted time and increase their chances for success in the future whether in work or general life through better informed decisions?
Utilizing technology we can help bridge that gap - by providing a FREE to access platform that acts as a global LIFE skills support hub that allows anyone to catalog best practices they have learnt in their personal life to share with others coming up.
What specific problem are you solving?
We are seeking to offer training and a flexible curriculum in both hard or soft skills that are generally not formally taught in the educational system so persons can be better equipped to deal with the challenges of life.
Unlike animals that are born with natural instincts - humans must be trained to socialize and not all families have the benefit of traditional or ideal family structures whether knowledge can be pasted on from parents to children.
Many people learn to adult the hard way and lament if they only knew; because there really is no way for anyone to see what their future holds. until life comes at them.
However when confronted with challenges or obstacles they could make better informed decisions if they had somewhere or someone to turn to for advice or guidance. This is a global problem and covers many areas of life whether statistically where only 33% of the global population is financial literate or even many students leave school not understanding how to prepare themselves appropriately for a job interview.
What is your solution?
The LocaL App acts as a global how to adult - life skills guide that is constantly updated by a community of users who submit their personal life experiences or the best practices that they have dealt with on just about any subject or category. They have the option to do so anonymously or offer themselves as a mentor to anyone who would like learn more on any specific subject.
Users in turn can access this hub of real life experiences via an iOS, Android or PWA mobile app with offline functionality for low connectivity environments and even rate the advice or experiences submitted by others to the platform. The LocaL App also using gps-enabled technology allows users to connect with mentors or even learn about the many different type of careers in the world that are not the traditional doctor or lawyer or policeman and the journey others took to achieve them or even the type of education or training required for them.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our target population is ideally focused on 12 - 18 year old that are in secondary or high school who are normally at one of the most integral points in their life when they are selecting subjects for future careers or are still exploring who they are as a person or trying to decide on their purpose in life. We completed a survey or 1000 students back in 2015 trying to understand how youth saw their career goals and where they saw themselves in the future - many expressed they were following what they saw their parents did and were not aware or who they could turn to for advice or feedback when they had questions.
The LocaL App (How to Adult Guide) would function as a safe and accountable solution that could allow persons to learn at their own pace or even engage a mentor virtually if they wanted more hands on advice from someone who has experienced what they are seeking to tackle - whether from peers in their community or older.
