Despite significant achievements, notable challenges persist:

Centralization:

  1. Decision-making: Lack of decentralized decision-making processes.
  2. Supplier selection: Issues with centralized supplier selection.
  3. Fund management: Challenges in managing funds efficiently.
  4. Poor auditability: Limited transparency and auditability of fund usage.

Lack of incentives:

  1. Community members: Insufficient incentives to encourage community participation.
  2. Enterprises: Lack of motivation for enterprises to engage in social impact initiatives.

What is your solution?

D&D is a platform that facilitates the D&D community, led by Santiago Maratea (an Argentine influencer), to come together online and organize for various social impact projects. This community has already raised over $8 million USD for diverse solidarity campaigns.

The platform involves presenting problems, debating solutions, making proposals, voting, selecting suppliers, fundraising, and conducting fund audits.

Inspired by the functionality of web3 community DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations), we're adopting their philosophy, structure, and dynamics into a user-friendly platform accessible to anyone, even those unfamiliar with native web3 user experiences.

While prioritizing a great user experience, we're also committed to principles of decentralization, transparency, and auditability. Hence, we're integrating the best features of both web3 and web2 worlds.

  • On-Chain Governance: Implementing transparent on-chain proposals, voting mechanisms, and tender processes for effective decision-making.

  • Off-Chain Fundraising: Utilizing local payment methods to facilitate efficient fundraising efforts beyond traditional channels.

  • On-Chain Attestations: Ensuring the auditability and transparency of off-chain funds through on-chain attestations for accountability and trustworthiness.

We leverage frameworks and tools enabling users to access self-custodial wallets seamlessly, using familiar login methods such as email or social accounts, eliminating the need for crypto knowledge.

Post-campaign, we establish a community pool where members contribute and redistribute funds based on their involvement across problem identification, planning, debates, proposals, and voting stages. This redistribution is guided by a "Community Score," incorporating KYC measures for supplier selection integrity, social credentials akin to Gitcoin Passport, and community assessments reflecting the perceived value of contributions.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Community members:

The D&D community now has the opportunity to extend their involvement beyond monetary donations, truly owning projects through active participation in every stage. Additionally, they will receive economic incentives for their valuable contributions through allocations from the community pool.

Beneficiaries:

Our solidarity campaign beneficiaries will enjoy extensive benefits across diverse domains. We are dedicated to continually enhancing and diversifying our objectives to sustain support for previous recipients. Moreover, we aim to expand the scope of our projects and recipients based on community proposals, fostering inclusivity and responsiveness to evolving needs.

First Campaign Proposal:

The Wichi Community of Misión Chaqueña has faced severe challenges, including limited access to healthcare. After instances of children not reaching hospitals due to transportation constraints, the community improvised by converting pickups into ambulances, resulting in a decrease in mortality rates. However, drug addiction remains a pervasive issue, even in remote areas. Recognizing this urgent need, our inaugural campaign aims to construct a drug rehabilitation center onsite. We believe this facility will significantly enhance the community's health and quality of life.

Why are you applying to Solve?

Our primary motivation for joining MIT Solve is to gain a broader, global perspective on our initiative. We envision creating a DAO-ish, user-friendly platform for problem-solving that transcends the D&D community, extending its benefits to any organization or community. We're eager to explore how this technology and product can catalyze larger-scale change.

Securing funding remains a significant challenge. Developing a product of this magnitude with a non-profit focus entails substantial financial hurdles, particularly in web3 technology development. We believe that participation in MIT Solve will offer invaluable insights into potential partnerships that could facilitate effective non-profit funding. This support will empower us to realize our vision of a public good tech platform.
