MISSIONARY AT HEART

Delivering hope to the Dominican Republic

Pitch us on your solution

#missionaryatheart is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is responsible for feeding, clothing, showering, and giving medical attention to between 100-150 children daily that live in extreme poverty in the Dominican Republic.

What is the problem you are solving?

#Missionaryatheart is trying to make a difference in each of these children’s lives by giving them the support and love they deserve. #Missionaryatheart  served 30,000 plates of food to orphans of the Dominican Republic in 2018. The goal of #Missionaryatheart is to become a full time orphanage and educational center so that these kids can defeat the cycle and escape the extreme poverty they were unfortunately born into.

Who are you serving?

#missionaryatheart currently serves homeless street kids as well as poor children in the surrounding villages of a town called barahona. Not only do we feed, clothe, and show love to these kids but we also teach them how to be responsible and make good life decisions that they were never taught because they left home at such a young age. With the proper support we truly believe we can make a difference in thousands of children’s lives, or even more. If we could build an orphanage for these children to live at so that rather than send them back to the streets every day we honestly believe we can help these children defeat the never ending cycle of  the extreme poverty they were born into.

What is your solution?

#Missionaryatheart has a goal and that is to help the homeless and unfortunate children of the Dominican Republic defeat the cycle of extreme poverty. With proper funding, #Missionaryatheart could expand not only in the Dominican Republic, but to many other countries where children are so desperately in need. We would love for you to consider us in this challenge, as we feel we can make a lasting global impact with your help.

Why do you expect your solution to address the problem?

I believe that an orphanage/educational center could help these kids more than anything. These kids do not go to school, they don’t even have parents to teach them right from wrong. If we had the opportunity to raise and give these kids the education they deserve, there’s no telling how far they could go.

In which countries do you currently operate?

  • Dominican Republic

In which countries will you be operating within the next year?

  • Dominican Republic

How many people are you currently serving with your solution? How many will you be serving in one year? How about in five years?

#missionaryatheart is currently serving around 100 children each day, although we have a total of around 300 children registered. Next year, our hope is to grow to 500, and in 5 years we believe that we could reach thousands if we are given the opportunity.

What are your goals within the next year and within the next five years?

Our goals are to continue to fundraise and grow our non-profit so that we can reach as many unfortunate children that we possibly can. I’m 5 years our goal is to have 500 children relying on us for daily food and education and 100 living in our orphanage and attending our educational program.

What are the barriers that currently exist for you to accomplish your goals for the next year and for the next five years?

Our main barrier right now is the cost of feeding 100-150 children 5 days a week year around, as well as Paying our  3 employees, and many other expenses. It is difficult to grow when you rely on donations from fundraising to keep our non-profit running.

How are you planning to overcome these barriers?

Our plan to overcome these barriers is to begin speaking at public gatherings, churches, anywhere that will have us. We believe that if we were able to get our name out there we would be able to reach our goal.
