What specific problem are you solving?
“Internships are suppose to open doors. But what happens when they are only accessible to those who can afford to work for free?” - The Atlantic
We understand that internships have many problems, but Symba strives to address the financial burdens students undertake when they intern. According to the Wall Street Journal, a summer internship in New York City can cost an intern up to $10,000.
Because of the costly nature of internships, many students are shunned and often unable to participate in these valuable learning experiences (Huffington Post). This makes internships only attainable to students who have the financial opportunity to work for free and prevents representation of students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
What is your solution?
1. Organizations post remote internships on Symba and students create profiles to apply to these remote internships. Symba’s platform incorporates proprietary algorithms to enable the best matching of students to domestic and international organizations.
2. After Symba makes the internship match, Symba’s comprehensive internship platform helps organizations manage the logistics of having a remote intern from onboarding, project assignment, communication tools and feedback mechanisms. This is our special sauce! Our proprietary software saves organizations the time, cost, and hassles that come along with having internship programs.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
With Symba, students do not need to pay to relocate, housing, transportation and other related internship costs. By connecting students to remote internships with organizations, students can use their laptop to access internships around the world year round. In this way, Symba tackles the financial burdens students face when undertaking internships.
By addressing this pain point of internships, Symba is confident that more students will have the opportunity to intern and advance their career.
