Project Summary:

In Argentina's healthcare system, a general underutilization of free, public healthcare resources highlights broader issues of accessibility and literacy, especially in rural areas. PuntoSalud is an AI-powered virtual health messaging system that delivers personalized, trustworthy information sourced directly from local hospitals. Utilizing WhatsApp as its chatbot interface, it offers seamless communication and empowers patients with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their health. Beyond answering queries, PuntoSalud helps hospitals better understand and meet community health needs through anonymized patient data and can facilitate the delivery of tailored public health messages to specific users and populations. Most importantly, PuntoSalud is developed in collaboration with a local organization, ADESAR, and the support of students from the National University of San Antonio de Areco in Argentina, embodying a model of sustainable co-development based on capacity building and cultural relevance. We aim to not only improve health outcomes in Argentina but also serve as a model for leveraging technology to bridge global healthcare disparities.
