Who does your solution serve, including demographics, and how does the solution impact their lives?
Latino’s make up approximately 18% of the US population today, and will increase to an estimated 29% by 2050. Yet, Latinos only own about 6 percent of employer firms and approximately 14 percent of non-employer firms.
Latinos face significant challenges and are underserved when it comes to becoming entrepreneurs. Limited access to resources, including capital and mentorship, creates barriers for aspiring Latino entrepreneurs. Historical and systemic factors, such as discrimination and lack of inclusive support networks, have hindered their entrepreneurial journey.
The lack of adequate representation in mainstream business ecosystems often leads to limited visibility, reduced access to opportunities, and lower funding prospects. Language and cultural barriers can further impede their ability to navigate the complexities of starting and growing a business.
Addressing these disparities is crucial to empowering Latino entrepreneurs and unlocking their full potential, not only for the benefit of the Latino community but also for the broader economy. If Latino business ownership reflected their population share, an estimated 735,000 new enterprises could be added to the US economy, creating 6.6 million new jobs.
The Univision Foundation's affiliation with TelevisaUnivision, the largest Spanish language network in the USA, and trusted source of information, puts us in a unique position to provide targeted support, resources, and opportunities, to the community we know and ultimately serve.

What is your theory of change?
We base our theory of change on evidence and research that highlight the disparities faced by Latinos in entrepreneurship and the potential impact of targeted support. Studies have shown that a lack of access to financing, mentorship, and resources hinders Latino-owned businesses' growth and representation. By bridging these gaps, we have seen positive changes in the number of successful Latino-owned businesses, increased revenues, job creation, and enhanced economic prosperity within the community.
Additionally, feedback from pilot programs and interviews with our target population has demonstrated the value and impact of our initiatives. The Posible brand has registered more than 600k aspiring entrepreneurs through its online platform, helping create more than 100k business models alongside aspiring entrepreneurs and graduated 800 from our bootcamp experiences to help launch and scale their businesses. Participants have reported improved confidence in managing their businesses, access to new markets and opportunities, and a stronger sense of belonging within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. As these entrepreneurs flourish, they become role models and advocates for others, inspiring a ripple effect of positive change within the community.

How do you define the community you serve, and who are its stakeholders?
The Posible program defines the community it serves as the Latinx and Hispanic community in the United States, with a specific focus on supporting aspiring and existing Latino entrepreneurs. The program aims to uplift and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds within this community, regardless of their economic status or personal context. By providing comprehensive resources, mentorship, and opportunities, Posible strives to create a more equitable and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem for the Latinx population.

What are your impact goals for the current year and the next five years and how will you achieve them?
Drawing from the successful track record of Posible in Mexico and previous activities held in the USA before the pandemic, our impact goals revolve around providing a trusted bilingual, bicultural platform for Latinx entrepreneurs. Within the year 2023, our aim is to leverage our media reach to register 1,000 entrepreneurs who can benefit from and test our platform. Additionally, we seek to select an initial cohort of 50 companies that we can accelerate in their growth. To achieve these goals, we will focus on key elements such as formalizing companies, strengthening their value proposition, defining growth strategies, understanding financing options, building strong teams, identifying potential partners, and tracking traction indicators for progress.
Our impact measurement for each company will encompass a checklist of formalizing indicators, revenue and profit growth, customer satisfaction and diversification (particularly for B2B companies), employee numbers, investments, non-tangible assets (like intellectual properties), and social/environmental impact. We believe that by helping thousands of entrepreneurs structure their ideas, develop necessary skills, and access adequate guidance through our digital platform, we can create a virtuous cycle. As we identify the most promising ventures, assist them in achieving success, and share their inspiring stories on a massive scale, we aim to inspire and educate others, furthering the impact of our efforts in promoting thriving Latinx businesses.
